Submission Information
We are in need of writers! We hope to include articles of original work from adults knowledgable about history and genealogy, as well as articles from children. Below are listed some of the types of articles we're looking for.
We ask that each submission be sent with a title and be no longer than two typed pages.
For submissions from adults, please include your contact information as well as your credentials.
For submissions from children, please include your contact information, as well as your name, grade, and school.
Please send all submissions as an attachment to submissions@thehistorytreeonline.com.
We are looking for the following types of submissions from both adults and children:
A Day in the Life: Stories or articles describing life during a certain time period in a certain place. Example could be Boston during the Revolutionary War. This is fairly open-ended as far as the time and place are concerned.
Through Their Eyes: We are looking for interviews with parents or grandparents about what their life was like when they were kids.
Who Am I?: Mini-biographies that begin with a game. We'd like to have a series of clues to give the reader to see if they can guess who the historical figure is. Then after this "Who Am I?" game, we would like to include a mini-biography about that historical figure. Example: Clue: I was the first president of the United States. Article: Biography of George Washington
HerStory: We'd like to include some mini-biographies about some famous women in history.
What's In A Name?: We're looking for articles that describe the origin of names and the meaning behind a name. For example, we may chose Amanda and Matthew for an issue. Where did these names come from? What do they mean?
Climbing the Family Tree: We're looking for articles about genealogy. How can children get started with researching their own family tree? This section may also include personal experiences.
Adopt-a-Grandparent: Articles/Stories written by children who have participated in our Adopt-a-Grandparent program. For more information on this program, please visit our Adopt-a-Grandparent page.
